Subordinated (debt) - Subordinated debt, also known as junior debt, is a finance term to describe debt that is unsecured or has a lesser priority than that of an additional debt claim on the same asset. This means that if the party that issued the debt defaults on it, people holding subordinated debt get paid after the holders of the "senior debt," and hence is more risky. Fiscal Policy in the United States - Historically, the United States government has tended to spend more than it takes in, with national debt that was close to $1 billion at the beginning of the 20th century. The budget for most of the 20th century followed a pattern of deficits during wartime and economic crises, and surpluses during periods of peacetime economic expansion. Gaussian elimination - In mathematics, Gaussian elimination or Gauss–Jordan elimination, named after Carl Friedrich Gauss and Wilhelm Jordan (for many, Gaussian elimination is regarded as the front half of the complete Gauss–Jordan elimination), is an algorithm in linear algebra for determining the solutions of a system of linear equations, for determining the rank of a matrix, and for calculating the inverse of an invertible square matrix. When applied to a matrix, Gaussian elimination produces what is called External debt - External debt (or foreign debt) is that part of the government debt of a country which is owed to creditors outside the country. This debt includes money owed to private commercial banks, other governments, or international financial institutions such as the IMF and World Bank.
